{"id":103,"date":"2017-08-24T17:07:09","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T17:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taxcoursesonline.com\/blog\/?p=103"},"modified":"2024-10-23T19:06:26","modified_gmt":"2024-10-23T19:06:26","slug":"ctec-renewal-now-open-20162017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxcoursesonline.com\/blog\/ctec-renewal-now-open-20162017\/","title":{"rendered":"CTEC RENEWAL NOW OPEN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>2024\/2025 Registration for Renewal of CTEC Licensed Tax Preparers opened August 1st.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT DATES:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Aug 1st through Oct 31st<\/strong> registration fee $33.00 plus $2 processing fee<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nov 1st through Jan 15th<\/strong> registration fee $33.00 plus late fee $55.00 ($88.00) plus $2 processing fee<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dec 31st\u00a0<\/strong> CRTPs who plan to participate in the IRS voluntary Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) must have their CTEC renewal registration completed no later than December 31, 2024, which is required by the IRS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jan 16th and later<\/strong> registration must include a new 60 hour qualifying education course and you must register as a new preparer.<\/p>\n<p>Tax preparers who do not complete their registration by Oct 31st will have expired licenses until they renew and are not allowed to prepare tax returns.<\/p>\n<p>Education providers have <strong>10 days after you complete your courses<\/strong> to submit them to CTEC. Students who wait too long to complete their education risk the possibility of not having it submitted in time to renew. They would then have to retake the 60 hour qualifying education course to obtain a license for the 2020\/2021 year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Continuing Education requirements:<\/strong><br \/>\n20 hours total<br \/>\n\u2022 10 hours Federal Tax Law<br \/>\n\u2022 3 hours Ethics<br \/>\n\u2022 2 hours tax law updates<br \/>\n\u2022 5 hours California State tax law<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2024\/2025 Registration for Renewal of CTEC Licensed Tax Preparers opened August 1st.
